Project: Meralco Power Tech
Client: Manila Electric Company (MERALCO)
Power Tech will be the first research and development (R&D) and technical training facility in the Philippines that features a Smart Grid setup. It will be the venue for bringing the Philippine energy industry into the future by bridging the gap between current and emerging technologies and competencies.
Power Tech is a two-storey modern-contemporary architecture that will feature both brownfield and smart substations. It has a total floor area of 4,200 sqm. occupying a lot area of 2,000 sqm, with a 60:40 open space to built-up area ratio, and is powered by solar and wind energy
It has a total training capacity of 16,000 technical training man-days annually that will be shared with the academe and other power utilities, with 30 technical training courses employing experiential learning methodologies.

Power Tech aims to:
- Serve as a facility that will rapidly accelerate the competency upgrade of
both Meralco and other industry players through program offerings
addressing different competency areas on power and energy
- Be a test-bed for Smart Grid and emerging technologies and will be a pilot
testing area for new equipment and devices where suppliers can
participate
- Drive innovation and R&D in the Philippine power industry through partnerships with the academe and other power utilities.
